Prior to the renovation and opening the Blue Ridge Bed & Breakfast, Scott and Cara Higginbotham were of the corporate business world. Both left the office life years ago to become charter boat captains aboard a luxury sailing catamaran in the Caribbean.  Having sailed the islands extensively, they still find great joy in the life on the sea and spend a few months every winter there.

Scott and Shane Stoker both are native to Alleghany County. The Stokers are a local high school sweetheart story. They began dating in high school at the ages of 16 &18, went off to college, married nine years later, and moved back to their roots in Alleghany County in 1998. They currently live in Glade Valley with their two children, Karly and Isaac. During the day, Scott holds the role of the county juvenile probation officer, while Shane manages the marketing and business operations of their Christmas tree farm, which they own jointly with Scott's parents. Being native to Alleghany, the Stokers are a great source of local information and local history.
